Bringing your pet dog / terms & conditions
Bringing Your Dog to Uist Forest Retreat
We’re dog owners ourselves and love welcoming four-legged companions to our retreat. To ensure a safe, enjoyable stay for everyone—humans and dogs alike—please take a moment to read our dog-friendly guidelines:
Deposits and Property Care
•Bringing a dog is subject to our Good Housekeeping and Damages Deposit (as per our general terms and conditions).
•The property will be inspected before the deposit is returned. Any damage or extra cleaning costs beyond the deposit will need to be paid before departure.
Dogs Indoors
•Dogs must stay off all furniture, including beds. No exceptions. Failure to follow this may result in the deposit being retained in full.
•Dogs must be clean and dry before entering the property. We provide an outside tap and dog towels to help with this.
•Owners must bring their own dog bed.
Safety and Supervision
•Dogs must not be left unattended in the property at any time.
•There are hens, guinea fowl, horses, deer, and ground-nesting birds in the forest and nearby. Please keep dogs under close control.
•When in doubt, keep your dog on a lead. This helps protect wildlife, other animals, and your dog.
Dog Limits and Age Restrictions
•Maximum of 2 small or medium dogs (about the size of a Labrador).
◦If you have two Labrador-sized dogs, we recommend our Damh property, which has a little more space for dog beds. Please contact us beforehand to discuss suitability.
•We cannot accommodate puppies under 18 months. This helps protect the property and future guests from accidental damage. Hosts may ask for proof of age for young dogs.
Your Responsibility
•Please familiarise yourself with the “Your Dog, Your Responsibility” campaign by Police Scotland. The Sheep Game video is a friendly guide to the new law.
•Enjoy the islands safely: on leads when needed, and always keep your dog under close control in sensitive areas like the machair or hills.
Thank you for helping us maintain a welcoming, safe, and enjoyable retreat for all our guests—human and canine!
