North Uist is ringed by some of the most beautiful beaches in Britain — wide arcs of white shell-sand backed by wildflower machair, often without a footprint on them. One you’ll watch from your balcony; others are a short drive across the island.
Vallay Island & the tidal sands
You’ll watch the tide come and go between Claddach Vallay and Vallay Island from your cabin. At low tide you can walk across the expansive sands to explore the island and the historic house that once belonged to Sir Erskine Beveridge — just keep an eye on the tide.
The Udal peninsula
A beautiful day out, with multiple spectacular east- and west-facing beaches, the excavated Udal archaeological site where families farmed for thousands of years, a giant midden, a graveyard and a freshwater spring.
The west coast & Balranald
Around the RSPB Balranald reserve the Atlantic edge is one white-sand beach after another, the dunes alive with wildflowers and wading birds through summer.
