Wildlife & Nature

North Uist is one of the finest corners of Britain for wildlife, and the forest around the cabins sits right in the heart of it. Our resident white-tailed eagles — also known as sea eagles, and Britain’s largest bird of prey — are often seen overhead in the forest, while golden eagles range across the wider island. Hen harriers, short-eared owls and merlins hunt the surrounding moor, and even Britain’s smallest bird, the goldcrest, lives in the trees. Red deer move through the forest, often seen from your windows, and otters are at home along the shoreline surrounding the forest. Best of all, our resident sea-eagle pair, Loki and Caitir, can be watched on our live nest camera.
