Looking for a wild escape with your significant other? Come and get lost in the raw beauty and exceptional wildlife of North Uist.
We’re delighted to feature as one of Visit Scotland’s Mini-Moon Break Ideas in Scotland.

We’ve already had the pleasure of hosting many min-moons, honeymoons, anniversaries and even several engagements! A romantic dinner with lobster from Kallin Shellfish whilst looking out to the Atlantic Ocean, freestanding bath to soak up the views, unrivalled stars from the balcony and even the chance of Northern Lights, it’s the perfect retreat in the trees to spend time with each other and relax and restore from your everyday life.

We have over 25 long sandy beaches on North Uist alone, that’s not including many more on our neighbouring and connected islands from Berneray to Eriskay. There’s no roads, hotels or bars by beaches here, just incredible landscapes, soft sands and nature and often you’ll have it all to yourself. Why not refresh your senses with some wild swimming in the crashing waves or during the summer season, the toasty pools left by a low tide.

If you love slow tourism and exploring the great outdoors, you will never be bored here. Spend less time travelling the roadside in a car, ticking off the obvious points of interest across countless miles as you follow the typical tourist trails. Instead, get out in the fresh air and spend real quality time with each other, discovering our wildlife and truly special, untouched landscapes that are hidden from those who aren’t in the know.

Nestled in the shelter and privacy of the trees, you have unrivalled views from your cabin up on the hill, overlooking the forest and out to the beaches, ocean and island of Vallay. At the right time of year, couples have experienced everything from shooting stars to their first Northern Lights, right from the comfort of their cabin and balcony. In the summer we’ve heard honeymooners say they struggled to go to bed as they were mesmerised by watching the blazing, multicoloured sunset colours, travel across the horizon to the Harris hills to rise again not long after, the days are long here in the summer!

Other fortunate couples have had the luck of standing on our favourite peninsula in the world, to not only experience the beauty of the wild landscape but to also witness a pod of dolphins swim by! If wildlife is your thing we can point you in the right direction of many places where you might experience the best the island has to offer. For the best chances of many encounters throughout the day go on a trip with Steve from Western Isles Wildlife. A trip with Steve left one of our couples with the unforgettable memory of witnessing an otter triumphantly tuck into his catch of an octopus, only to then have it pirated by a white-tailed eagle!

We want everyone who stays with us to really experience North Uist and to leave with long-lasting memories. A break to re-energise from a busy life, to celebrate an anniversary, mini-moon or honeymoon, get more from your precious time and look after yourself and your wellness by slowing down to a more island way of life.
